Harina Optometrists is a new and innovative concept in optometric clinics based on Dr. Harina Thyriar’s forward-thinking vision of optometry and eye health. Cléo Katcho’s mandate was to create a highly minimalist, elegant, and luxurious space that was also welcoming and showcased the high-end products offered. To fully embody the client’s vision, the design team opted for a minimalist, architectural concept.

By opting for custom-designed built-in furniture (shelves and storage) along the main wall, Harina Optometrists’ retail space has been transformed into a museum-inspired space. To maintain the desired sleek and streamlined look, mirrors were integrated into the furniture, as were lights under each shelf and along the full-length mirror. LED lighting inserts at the junction of the walls and ceilings also helped to neatly delineate the areas. Every little detail was carefully considered to avoid unnecessary additions that would detract from the desired minimalist look. For example, invisible locks were used on all the displays and storage units in the space.

To create a warm atmosphere, warm lighting was used in the various integrated lighting fixtures. The team selected commercial-grade finishes appropriate for the type of use of these spaces to ensure, among other things, the durability of the custom furniture and flooring. Rich textures, such as textured wallpaper, were used to add elegance. The clinical spaces in the back of the store were also prepared to accommodate high-performance, state-of-the-art machinery and built-in furniture specially designed to meet the needs of specialists.

Dr. Thyriar and her team at Harina Optometrists had a clear vision of what they wanted and, above all, an understanding of the added value that space design can bring. We translated their vision into a luxurious and open space. By choosing to integrate the furniture and transform the walls to create displays instead of adding more, and by opting for an architectural approach to lighting, we were able to create the ideal setting for the high-quality content that would fill the space. It is also a space that perfectly reflects the high level of service provided by Dr. Thyriar and her team.
