The reputation and expertise of the fertility department at Clinique Ovo in Montreal, which has been providing assisted reproduction care and services and support to thousands of Quebecers wishing to start a family since 2003, are well established.
The growing demand for assisted reproductive services has created a real need to redesign and expand the department’s facilities in order to better serve its growing clientele. Not only did the clinic need to be able to meet demand, but it also needed to do so while providing its clients with an intimate, soothing environment, sheltered from the gaze of others.
The creation of arches, inspired by the clinic’s logo, provided three distinct meeting spaces while maintaining the open-plan environment desired by the client team. The layout of the benches in the waiting room also meets the need to preserve user privacy. The choice of colors, white and mauve, which convey purity, calm, and feminine fertility, as well as the curves in the design that recall female physiology, are all closely linked to the department’s mission.
The Ovo project pushed us to think about design solutions that truly emphasized the human experience of visiting the clinic, in response to the very human issue of fertility. The support and active participation of the client team throughout the project was also a plus in the success of the project, which not only promotes the clinic’s brand image, but also makes the patient experience personal and reassuring.
